Understanding yourself is not always enough.
Psychotherapy for the patterns that keep repeating, and the past that keeps showing up in the present.
We can understand a great deal about ourselves and still repeat what causes us pain.
The argument we promised ourselves we wouldn’t have again. The anger that arrives before we can stop it. The sadness we cannot quite account for. The things we thought we had put behind us, showing up in ways we don’t always recognise.
The past has a way of making itself felt in the present.
You may know exactly what you want to change. You may only know that something is no longer working.

Therapy Tailored to You
My foundation is Holistic and relational, influenced by the psychoanalytic work developed by Freud, Melanie Klein, Donald Winnicott, John Bowlby and Irvin Yalom, to name a few. Their thinking informs my interest in our inner world, our earliest attachments, the patterns we repeat in relationships, and the parts of our experience that can sit outside our immediate awareness.
I integrate this with contemporary approaches to trauma, attachment and the mind–body relationship, drawing particularly on Peter Levine, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gabor Maté, and the mindfulness and compassion teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh.
What this looks like in therapy will be different for each person.
We might explore your family system and how childhood relationships shaped the ways you learned to adapt, protect yourself and relate to others. At other times, we may use a trauma-informed approach and the language of the nervous system to understand why anxiety, panic, shutdown or overwhelm can take hold and how you can begin to work with these responses rather than simply trying to control them.
The aim is not to fit you into a particular model, but to use the model that best helps us understand you.
Ultimately, the work should make a difference beyond the therapy room in how you understand yourself, manage difficult emotions, set boundaries, relate to others and make choices about your life.
Beginning Therapy
You are welcome to get in touch by email to arrange an initial appointment. Our first session gives us an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you would like from the work, and whether working together feels like a good fit.
What you bring to therapy is treated confidentially. There are specific circumstances in which confidentiality may need to be broken, particularly where there is a serious concern about safety or a legal or safeguarding obligation. These limits will be explained clearly at the outset.
